Powder Discovery Tour
FULLY HOSTED & GUIDED POWDER TOUR
10% OFF ALL DATES until Aug. 31st!
If you are looking for a fun way to explore the best resorts in the Niseko region our new Powder Discovery Tour is just the ticket.
Renowned for consistent snowfall and expansive terrain, Niseko covers 2,191 acres with 61 pistes spread across four interconnected resorts: Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Annupuri and Niseko Village. That’s a lot of runs to cover and powder to enjoy!
Our experienced resort guides will take the hassle out of second guessing where to go, by showing you the best powder stashes across the mountain within resort boundaries.
With the ability to start where the conditions are best or even better where we can beat the lift queues, this tour will ensure you spend the most time in powder possible during your time in Japan.
We’ll also visit the nearby resorts of Kiroro and Rusutsu which provide two more fantastic options for powder hungry skiers & riders. With complete flexibility to head to these mountains when the conditions are best this tour will have you getting deep in the area’s abundant dry powder snow day after day.
Each night you will stay in the comfortable Always Niseko, where you can wander into town to enjoy Hirafu’s lively restaurant and nightlife scene. Your guides will also be there to take you out to some great local restaurants in the area as well as a local onsen tour.
With 6 varied resorts to explore over 6 days on snow, you’ll see more great terrain and get more fresh turns with us than many do after multiple visits to Niseko. This tour will be a holiday to remember!

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is compulsory for all of our tours and guided packages, and you’ll need to provide your policy details before departure. Your insurance should offer adequate cover for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment, and the specific ski/snowboard related activities involved in your trip. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment cover, in case you’re unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness or injury.Standard travel insurance may not cover skiing/boarding on or off-piste or backcountry touring with or without a guide, so it’s essential to check the details carefully. There are snow-specific providers such as World Nomads (Explorer plan) who cover skiing/boarding on piste and with a guide in the backcountry or Rise + Shield (Wintersports add on), which covers on piste as well as skiing/boarding in the backcountry without a guide.
Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.
NOTE: this tour does not require avalanche safety gear.
IS THIS TOUR FOR ME?
ABILITY LEVEL: Advanced on piste. High Intermediate in powder and above
This tour is specifically designed for skiers and boarders who are confidently in control at all times on piste, and comfortable in powder.
You should be able to adjust the size and length of your turns, and be comfortable in a variety of different terrain and snow, including powder and gladed trees.
The video below is geared towards our progression and gives an example of the level of skiing/riding on the Powder Discovery Tour.
Niseko Area
Niseko United
Boasting the biggest network of trails in the region, Niseko has something for everyone that can easily satisfy anyone’s hunt for powder over multiple days. With long flowing trails to break in your ski legs, there is also plenty of terrain to progress into. The rolling treed areas and open bowls will allow you to get off the beaten track and into some of Japan’s famous powder. With 4 distinct resort areas across the volcano shaped mountain you will be spoilt for choice.
Rusutsu
With wide open trails that are expertly maintained along with hidden powder stashes Rusutsu offers an awesome variety of terrain across its two mountains. Known also for it’s amazing tree skiing, you will have plenty of options for jumping into fresh powder and improving your skills in the perfectly gladed birch tree forests that Japan is famous for.
Kiroro
Home to some of the highest snowfall totals in Hokkaido, Kiroro is a vast ski area that has lots of variable terrain for anyone looking to get their Japan powder fix. On a resort guided day expect long runs down from the top of the gondola where you can take advantage of some expert grooming before ducking off the side of the trails into countless tree islands and plenty of powder.
This itinerary is an example. The tour will be run largely by the weather and each day will fit around where the best conditions are. This is the beauty of such a tour.
DAY 1
(arrival and check-in day)![]()
Upon landing at Sapporo’s Chitose Airport you’ll be transferred by Resort Liner to the Hirafu Welcome Centre. We will coordinate your transport onward to your accommodation at Always Niseko. That night you’ll meet our team who will run you through the tour, weather and answer any questions you have before arrival night welcome drinks and dinner.
(NOTE: If you wish to organise rental equipment it is advised that you try to arrive with enough time on the arrival day to be fitted – seek advice from your consultant)
DAY 2
(first ski day)![]()
First day exploring Niseko! For your first day on snow your guides will kick things off with a warm up lap before we start to hunt around for powder stashes to enjoy at Grand Hirafu. There’s a huge amount of terrain to explore across Niseko United and a vast lift network connecting 4 resorts. At the end of the day, we will all enjoy a traditional Japanese meal and a few drinks.
DAY 3![]()
Today we’ll show you just how big Niseko is! We’ll head to Niseko Annupuri at the start of the day, ski and ride through their fun gladed zones, explore the upper mountain, and maybe even opt for the buffet lunch!
DAY 4![]()
Day tour to Rusutsu Resort. We will spend the day guiding you through the trees and valleys of Rusutsu, as well as their very quirky hotel! With multiple gladed ridgelines to explore and an extensive lift network, there’s plenty of terrain to enjoy.
DAY 5![]()
Pack your onsen gear and a snorkel as we’ll be heading off to Kiroro today where your guide will show you some great powder stashes. This powder gem has some awesome terrain and often receives even more snowfall than Niseko!. An onsen on the way home is also a popular option and a great way to end the day.
DAY 6![]()
Fresh snow on the ground and it’s looking like another day at Rusutsu. You should now be well and truly warmed up to Japow skiing and riding, so we may even look to start hitting some of the many natural features in Rusutsu for a bit extra fun!
DAY 7![]()
It’s our last day on snow and we’re off to Hanazono at Niseko United, where we’ll head to the upper part of the mountain for fresh turns and enjoy the stunning view of Mt Yotei. We wind up the tour tonight with our farewell dinner with plenty of fun memories and a drink or two.
DAY 8
(check out and departure day)![]()
Time to check out and say goodbye to your new friends and transfer to Sapporo’s Chitose Airport for your flight home. If you have a later flight you can even sneak in a few more laps in the morning!
This is a new Tour for 2027 – the reviews below are for our Powder Progression Tour:
Honestly the guides were the best part of the trip. They were really the part of the experience that I think will be hard to duplicate and will keep us coming back to Whiteroom in the future.
– Patrick Minnick 2025
Guides were all excellent. Fred in particular was an excellent instructor and greatly improved my skiing.
– Simon James 2025
Amazing experience, the level of knowledge and care provided by our instructors and our guides was second to none, super friendly too. Highlight of the tour was an amazing powder day in Moiwa, the welcome dinner in Niseko – I have been to Japan many times but that dinner was one of the best I had in Japan.
– Stephane 2025
Whiteroom was fantastic! Great communication, went over the top to meet our needs, skiing was great and felt like we were skiing with friends, which they will forever be now, thanks Whiteroom!
– Matt Christensen 2024
The staff was incredibly helpful in helping me navigate hotels and logistics before my trip. The tour guide was attentive to what I wanted … Highly recommend.
– Chris Linsmayer 2024
Enjoying great powder in japan while getting tips to improve riding. The guides have a very strong knowledge of the terrain and able to read our skill levels quickly and find a suitable area for us to enjoy powder.
– Wei Chen 2020
I think the thing that stood out to me most was the incredible team that Whiteroom have. When we first arrived Yu met us with a huge smile, friendly nothing is a problem attitude and was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our whole stay. Kieron was great she always asked about our day, made us feel at home and provided great service.
Even when I went down to the office to sort out a bus transfer Kate phoned around for me, recommended a cheaper ski pass rate than we were going to get and sorted everything out effortlessly. I commented to a friend how nice it was that everyone at full note called us by our names, this again an example of what stood out and a reflection of Whiteroom service and brand. An impressive business and service example for others to follow.
Nate (Guide) was a fantastic guide he always went out of his way to ensure we were getting the most out of the tour. His willingness to help out by dropping us off places, recommendations and follow up were brilliant. The pics and videos he took will be treasured. He always followed up on requests, kept us up to date, read the group well and went the extra mile. Fantastic instruction and guiding.
– Wayne Goodman 2020
Excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed the powder progression tour. Nate was a great instructor, explained technique in a way that I could really understand & I think I will remember. He took good care of us, was kind and really went above and beyond to make sure we all had a fun time, including the restaurants, onsens etc. Nate was very patient and good fun to ski with, thank you

" This is one of the best holidays I have ever had. Guides so friendly & their knowledge & tips on instruction on the snow was great to progress my snowboarding. Mic was so good! Crew I meet & travelled with, I had a blast. I would go back to Japan tomorrow, was so much fun! The cultural experiences were a buzz too and gave the tired body a break from all the powder "
