Queenstown is the Southern Hemisphere’s premier four season lake and alpine resort. Surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and the crystal clear waters of Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown’s stunning scenery is awe inspiring. From here you can access the ski elds of The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Cardrona and Treble Cone.
The region has a unique and inspirational range of activities, experiences and must dos that attract around 1.9 million visitors every year. If you’re a Lord of the Rings fan you’ll recognize many of the locations of Middle-earth here. Queenstown is also home of the Bungy and the Shotover Jet as well as many other blood pumping adrenaline fueled adventure activities. Twenty minutes from Queenstown you’ll nd Arrowtown, a gorgeous old mining town and home to some of the best pies in the country. Further along you get into the Central Otago wine region where you can sample some delicious Pinot Noirs.

The Remarkables is located near Queenstown and has great variety of terrain, with an excellent area for beginners, to from easily accessible backcountry runs. The Homeward Bound run is often named the best in-bounds backcountry run, and a short walk from the Shadow Basin Chair delivers access into the Alta chutes’ amazing big mountain terrain, with impressive views to match. Get your hike on and snatch some of the most spectacular views and snow in the world.

THE REMARKABLES RESORT STATS
Season: Late June to early October
Terrain: Beginner 30% / Intermediate 40% / Advanced 30%
Lift system: 3 fixed quad chairs and 3 magic carpets
Longest run: 1.5km (shuttle required)
Average Snowfall: 3.7m annual
Terrain Parks: The stash, beginners park and advanced park, Ozone Tubing Park
Coronet Peak is the closest resort to Queenstown and is easily accessible, boasting a sealed road all the way to the car park. Coronet is not a large resort, however it does offer a great range of terrain for skiing and snowboarding. There are very limited on-snow facilities other than the main complex (which offers ski hire, lessons etc.) as it is so close to Queenstown there is no on snow accommodation.
Night Skiing is an absolute “must do” while in Queenstown.
A true favourite with locals and visitors, providing a unique evening’s entertainment and a memorable snow experience. The M1, Shirtfront, Big Easy trails and a Magic Carpet are fully flood-lit from top to bottom, catering to every level of ability. Ski or board under the stars sparkling and look down at the lights of Queenstown below – it’s simply magical!
The restaurant and bar are open until 9pm serving a fantastic range of hot meals as well as a warming glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate.
CORONET PEAK RESORT STATS
Season: June – October
Terrain: Beginners 25%, Intermediates 45%, Advanced 30% (includes Back Bowls)
Lift system: 1 high speed six seater, 2 express quads, 1 T- Bar and 4 surface conveyor lifts
Longest run: M1 – 2.4km
Average Snowfall: 197cm
One of the larger resorts in the South Island and a great family resort offering excellent ski school options for kids. The three main bowls offer plenty of advanced terrain for parents those wanting something more challenging. The resort is also well serviced by its lift system. Cardrona has the best parks in the country and hosts some of the largest events on the skiing and snowboarding calendar be sure to check with us when they are as to not get lost in the crowds.

CARDRONA RESORT STATS
Season: Mid June – October
Terrain: Beginner 25% / Intermediate 55% / Advanced 20%
Lift system: 7 lifts (2 high speed detachable quads, 2 fixed quads, 4 surface)
Longest run: 3.6km
Average Snowfall: 2.7m annual
Terrain Parks: Heavy Metal Big Park, Playzone Intermediate Park, Westons Gap Small Park, Big Air Jump (up to 100ft), Gravity Cross Course. New Intermediate Park Coming for 2014 Season
Pipes: International 12ft and Olympic 22ft Superpipe
