Appi Kogen

Appi ski resort was developed during the 80’s ski boom and no expense was spared in its creation. Appi features large luxury ski in ski out hotels, world class restaurants, and some of the best groomers and back country riding in Japan. Appi has added in snow making facilities to ensure that there is good early season coverage, because of this Appi opens from December 2nd each year!

The 282 hectare Appi ski area is below the tree line and has 21 slopes and 828 metres of vertical. Appi Kogen is very proud of its long runs with 12 of the 21 runs being longer than 2km and the longest being 5.5km.

‘Be Happy in Appi, enjoy endless groomers, now crowds and deep powder.’

Appi Kogen is a large commercial resort and arguably the largest resort in northern Honshu. Appi is an excellent choice if you like plenty of very long, wide, runs down the fall line. The highest point is around 1300m and vertical is around 800m. Great for advanced skiers, the upper sections of Appi are reasonably steep and whilst it does mellow out lower down, you don’t get the flat spots you sometimes get at other Japanese resorts.
