Powder riding represents the holy grail of skiing and riding.
Those who have experienced the free float of smooth turns through the weightless wonder that is an epic powder run are immediately converted to the church of POW. Each year the pow devotees make their annual pilgrimage to the land of the falling snow, Japan.
But are you ready to float through the deep white fluffy powder that Japan produces or will you head off the piste ready for your first taste and be met with that sinking feeling as your nose digs in, your heels come up and you are catapulted head over heels into the snow? What previously appeared to be the perfect powder run has now become an exercise in futility as you struggle to find anything solid to push on to get up…..
Powder riding is a unique activity and it requires unique skills. The best way to gain these skills and keep from faceplanting in the snow is to get some direct powder instruction in powder!
So am I ready for the Niseko Powder Progression Tour?
Well, that depends on a few things…
Sking and Snowboarding generally require a pretty good level of fitness, but the powder demands more of your body than cruising down perfectly groomed runs. In powder, your muscles will be working harder, and your mind needs to be sharp as there are more obstacles than a groomed run (although I’m sure skiers and boarder will attest that each is the biggest danger on the hill). In the powder, you need to be ready for uneven terrain, trees and in Japan you could come across a deer or Kamoshika!
If you can comfortably ride all over your local ski hill on all green, blue and black runs then you are ready to join the progression tour and head into the powder. If you are unsure just CONTACT US for a chat and we can assess if you will be a good fit for the Progression Tour.
I tick all the boxes, why should I do powder progression tour?
Simply put, the Niseko Progression Tour is the best way for you to be able to confidently experience some of the snowiest resorts in the world, whilst learning the skills needed to make the most of any powder trip. I want to improve but I don’t want to be stuck in a lesson all day.
In the Progression Tours, you are not just stuck at one resort riding the powder off the side of the groomed runs. Clients on the Progression Tour have the option of riding at Niseko, Moiwa, Rusutsu and Kiroro. Each day the guide will be taking you into the side/backcountry so you can really experience what Japanese powder is all about!
Alright, this Progression Tour sounds perfect but I want more than 7 nights.
No Problem! Ask our consultants about our Sky to Sea Powder Tour. This tour will let you ride Furano and the surrounding resorts and then see you staying in the 5-star Grand Park Otaru hotel in the lovely seaside village of Otaru. Here you will have 2 days to really put your skills to the test as our guides take you to Teine and Kokusai to let loose in the powder.
Well, what do actual clients have to say?
