Whether it be extending the trip, making it a little shorter or adding those extras like heli skiing or backcountry tours. We will spending the time with you to create your ski holiday.
2. What dates do the tours depart?
Each tour is different. Most tours have set departure dates but our packages can be booked for any 7/10 or 14 nights during the our run dates. We can also be quite flexible with these run dates if needed due to flights or holiday periods. Please check with us.
3. Do I need a visa?
Most countries provide Australian and New Zealand citizens 90 day tourist visas upon arrival. You must always check with us weather you need a visa. Those travelling to America need to register their arrival details before they land. If booking travel to the USA we will advise you of this.
4. What equipment do I need to bring?
Depending on the tour you should at least have your own apparel, including gloves, goggles, jacket and pants, and thermals. It's also advisable to get your own boots as this is the most important piece of equipment. Skis and snowboards can be hired but if you have your own gear it's always best to bring it. If you have any questions please ask one of our staff.
5. What skill level do I need to be for the tours?
Most of our tours are tailored for high-intermediate to advanced riders and skiers. However we have had intermediates and even beginners on our tours in the past and as long as they are aware that the group won't wait for them and that they are happy to buy some lessons and ski on the beginner areas by themselves or with their friends, then we are happy for them to join the tour.
6. Do I need insurance?
Yes, you must have adequate travel insurance to cover skiing and snowboarding. We recomend Suresave Travel Insurance. You can purcahse a policy online here.
7. How should I travel with money, credit card, travellers cheques or cash?
The best way to travel with money is to have a mixture of cash and credit cards. Australia Post gives the best exchange rate as long as you give them 3 days to order your currency. In Japan cash is king so I'd recommend taking more cash than relying on credit cards. You will always be slogged by your bank for taking out money overseas so it's best to budget and take over a set amount of cash or if your heading to America, Canada or Europe where it's not as safe as say Japan for cash then I'd recommend putting your money on a cash passport. You can get these at any Australia Post store and some banks and load up several currencies at the best exchange rate. Once you are overseas you won't be changed fees and the rate of exchange is set. If you loose the card you will have a duplicate card stashed in your luggage with a different pin and as soon as you use that the other is cancelled. It uses the Visa system so they are accepted everywhere that accepts cards and are protected by visas security system.
8. Can I add a stopover to the tours or packages?
Yes you can. Our tours are flexible with their start and end dates. Please ask our staff.
9. Do I need powder specific board or skis for Japan powder?
It's a good idea if you want to ski offpiste in powder that you have a ski that is at least 80mm under foot. For snowboarders it really depends how you ride, how well you ride and how heavy you are. Check with your local ski or snowboard store for recommendations.
